General Fair Information

The Vermont STEM Fair is an inquiry-based poster presentation competition open to all middle and high school level students in the state of Vermont.  The 2021 Vermont STEM Fair will be held virtually.  For information on how to register, see the Student or Teacher tabs at the top of this page.  For information on dates and deadlines, see the fair schedule.

Our state fair is an exciting opportunity for aspiring scientists (grades 5-12) to showcase the results of their independent research.  Each year 100+ student projects addressing all areas of science, technology, engineering and math are judged by at least three judges.  Our judges include scientists, secondary education faculty, dentists, physicians, nurses, military personnel and retirees, and other science related professionals from across Vermont.  Students compete for prizes donated by local organizations and scholarships to Vermont colleges.  The fair is also affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISF), and elegible students contend for a chance to compete at this international competition (for information on how to compete for ISEF-related prizes, see our ISEF information page.

The Vermont STEM Fair is open to the public- we're hoping to have a public showcase of the virtual presentations this year.  Check back soon for more information.

If you're a middle or high school educator and want some ideas on how to incorporate STEM fair projects into your curriculum, we'd be happy to help out.  Please contact us if we can help.

If you're an aspiring scientist in Vermont, we hope to see you at this year's fair!

Judge Main Page

The Vermont STEM Fair is judged by professionals in the STEM fields from throughout Vermont and is an amazing opportunity for some of Vermont's best and most enthusiastic future scientists to interact with professionals and experts from all over the state. Judges are incredibly important to the mission of the fair- you help us identify the projects that are the most worthy of recognition (and prizes!) and, perhaps more importantly, you share your expertise with and encourage young STEM enthusiasts from throughout the state.
